Meet Us at Substance Day London!

Vanessa Campinchi on May 23 2018 | Community, Events

Join us for Substance Day London, an amazing day for learning and sharing with both the community and world-famous artists. The event will feature masterclasses with some of the world’s best Substance artists from the game, VFX and animation, industrial design and architecture industries.

Here’s what we have in store for you – book your agendas from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm on June 21!

  • Let’s start the day with coffee and breakfast!

Sébastien Deguy, CEO & Founder, Allegorithmic

Our Founder and CEO Sébastien Deguy’s keynote will open the day with some great news about what is coming next in the Substance world.

Elouan Harmand, Material Artist at Sony London

Elouan will share his tips and best practices on how to create a material in Substance Designer. Starting from the process of finding good references and analyzing them, Elouan will then demonstrate how to create a fully procedural Substance material while keeping it simple for other artists to later use it in production (in either Substance Designer or Substance Painter).

Mark Sneddon, Senior Technical Artist, and Ben Keeling, Senior Environment Artist – Rocksteady Studios

Mark and Ben will give you an overview of modern material pipelines in game development using Substance Painter and Substance Designer and how to optimize your workflow in a team environment.

Max Bostock, Visualization and VR Specialist at BMW

With Substance’s PBR material description format allowing BMW to leverage a unique library of materials across their VR tools and workflow, Max will present how Substance is being used to create proper material and texture content for BMW’s hyper-realistic real-time VR experiences.

Pierre Maheut, Market Strategy Director Architecture and Design, and Nicolas Paulhac, Substance Source Product Manager – CMF Designer at Allegorithmic:

Dive deep into Allegorithmic’s massive Substance Source Automotive Material release with Pierre and Nicolas: several hundred entirely procedural or scan-based materials dedicated to cars – metallic paints, leathers, plastics, and tires, yes – but also headlights, meter, and license plate generators. A few other surprises are also in store!

Will Burdett, 3D Artist at The Mill

Will explains how to speed up asset production for VFX by using efficient workflows that include Substance Painter, using an example from a fun advertising project he just worked on at The Mill. This is a great opportunity to learn how to optimize your Substance Painter use!

Panos Ioannou, Foster + Partners

To be announced.

  • We will share lunch together at midday (lunch provided).

  • At the end of the day, we will invite you to have a drink, meet the speakers and network with your peers!

We hope to see you there!

A big thank you to our partners: The Escape Game Studios part of Pearson College London and London ACM SIGGRAPH.
